Tek 2.0 for Jagdterriers
One Jagdterrier you can control, four becomes a stressful nightmare as they are full on hunting dogs, what to do? I had looked at the Garmin setup but alas it does not work in the UK and I looked at Sportdog, ouch that would hurt the pocket. I left it for a couple of years but then a few stressful days made me invest in one handheld device and two collars for training and tracking, I went for top of the range with the mapping. Well it took a little bit of time to work out the pairing (finally realised you paired each collar to the handheld device) actually its quite simple to do once you understand. What a stunning system, it didn't take long to work out how to use it in the field and the training part of the collar is excellent with many options. I tried the training module on myself and it is very effective, set at 5 to 7 this seems to just irritate, about 14 you know you'll get the dogs full attention at 20 I don't think most dogs need that level but they will certainly stop what they are doing. I use the vibration before a quick buzz at 5, usually does the trick but mostly they now respond to the vibration. As to tracking, bloody marvellous the only fault and a minor one is the mapping is 120,000 I would rather have a 50,000 map and pay to have one for my area, wonder if its possible to do that, pretty sure it could be. One other thing to note sometimes it can take a little time for the GPS to acquire especially on cloudy days or under buildings, however once acquired I was quite surprised it actually picked up dogs underground!!!!! Think up to a meter or so. Will be buying another two collars when I can afford it. Best money I have spent for years and so much less stress when out hunting or just taking the four dogs for a walk even with just two collars which I swap around with the dogs. Many thanks Sportdog, the bark collars are superb too.
